Oops ! Oil Cooler Problem

Recommended Posts

buster205

renewed sump gasket today and did oil and filter change at same time. oil cooler was only attached on one bolt (top one) when trying to unscrew filter oil cooler was turning too. Asked my mrs. to hold screwdriver i,d wedged in to jam oil cooler when she managed to shear of corner of oil cooler (bracket). i need to find out what size the bolts are that hold oil cooler on , top and bottom bolt holes are same thread but i can,t use top bolt as it's too short, i'm going to refit cooler on just the lower bolt !

cheers

If its a remorte oil & water heat exchanger that mounts to the gearbox, they are usually M7 iirc.

it is the remote type, managed to find a bolt at local motor factors 40mm long but ideally could do with being about 5mm longer

just out of interest, would the holding bolts to gearbox have to be removed to fit clutch kit ? because i'm sure both bolts were fitted the last time i did a service !
