Help Need With Gearbox!

Recommended Posts

Changing Crankshaft seal so as you know its gearbox out, but readin the haynes manual is says when you come to takin out the driveshafts-

"fit a suitable tool to differential side gear in order to prevent it from falling into the final drive housing."

Then later on in the book it says about the peugeot tool 80317 (M+N)

What are these tools and do need them, how can i get round it if i havent got the tool?

Bit worried about trying to do this job now-Any info would be great!

I've got the "changing the gearbox" article from the 205 gtidrivers, but i cant see what he says about the problem.

Need to sort this out asap- arranged to do it tommorrow!

Cheers boys

J

Thanks for replies, so i've got need to worry then?

Do you just pull the driveshafts out and not worry about it? Im bit worried bout diff gears falling down and havin to strip the gearbox apart!

Dont believe the Haynes Book Of Lies. You need a special tool for everything.

If you want to be safe use a piece of wood such as a bit or broom handle shaped to fit in where the driveshaft should go, instead of the special tool!
