Shafts, Hubs And Calipers

Recommended Posts

Hi

I've managed to ruin the threads on my front near side hub and am going to replace the whole unit. I believe the car is running 309gti drive shafts. I've already got the studs from AB Motorsport, I just need to know which hub to go for. It's a rally car - so a bit of a mix match of parts. If any one can steer me in the right direction - it'd be mucho appreciated!

Also - are these 1.6gti or 1.9gti calipers?

1.9 type calipers, and if its 309 driveshafts it'll be 1.9 type hubs.

Brilliant, thanks for the help!

Now, where's the best place to buy a hub, and does it come woth the bearing included?

new the only place I think would be Peugeot (or Citroen), and no they don't come with a bearing.

3307 85 is the hub part number, about £55+vat, bearing is 3350 16 about £47.50 + vat, bearing I'd get from a decent motorfactor for about £15

Its a pretty common hub though, used on most larger XU/XUD and ED/DW engined cars so getting a second hand one shouldn't be difficult.

I never even thought of a second hand one - when you say larger cars with XU or XUD engines - would a 406 1.9TD be a likely candidate?

yup, every 406 uses that hub.

just to clarify that's the hub itself not the carrier.

Super!

I've a 200,000 mile 406 laid up in the driveway grazing, I knew I'd get a few more items of it before the shredder claims another victim!

Any other parts worth salvaging!?

Took the whole hub and carrier off the 406 - is a big job to seperate the hub from the carrier?
