What Leads For Mi16 + Ford Coilpack?

I'm nearing completion of my bike carbed + Megajolt Mi16 and I'm finding trouble sourcing leads to fit. Does anyone know from what model Ford I could get leads that will go deep enough into the head to the plugs? The ones I've found are too short and have a 90 degree bend at the sparck plug side so can't use them.

1.8 16v Zetec would fit, not sure if the length is sufficient to fit the Mi16 head though.

Just remake the ends off mate, thats what i intend to do on mine.

 

Both the Mi lead and the Ford lead ends come off with a bit of careful persuasion..

 

So mount the coil near where the old mi cap is, measure, cut and re-crimp.

I really don't want to start fabricating on the leads, because I'm not sure how that will affect their performance and i don't want to end up scrapping two sets of leads.

 

I'm sure there are some factory made leads that will fit, I just figured someone that has done the conversion before knows. Will check about the 1.8 Zetec ones.

i tried zetec leads, they are too fat.

 

i use fiesta turbo leads. means you have to do away with the plastic spark plug cover, but you do get a nice set of handles for your leads LOL

Halfors sell a range of universal leads and fittings, i use these on my rally car without any probs.

 

You buy the length lead you need, an adaptor kit to suit the mi16 and andaptor kit to suit the ford coilpack......connected it all togheter and happy days!

I was browsing some manufacturers websites and the ones that seem to fit are Fiesta turbo and Sierra Cosworth . Since there is no Halfords in Romania I'll order some Fiesta turbo leads. Thanks guys.

I use the same set up on my mi16. I had a firm make me a set up with ford coil pack ends on one end and mi16 ends on the other. Cost me less than £40. As a short term methord I got some ford leads and trimmed down the rubber sealing boot so it would fit down the MI16 hole where the plug goes. These worked fine but I wanted the std mi16 ends on to seal the hole and stop the crap getting down there.

I bought NGK Fiesta RS Turbo leads, they stick out of the head quite a bit, but seem to do the job ok. Were a bit pricey though.
