where do i connect an positive and an earth to make the bugger spin? does it just normally earth through the block?

Yeah,earth anywhere on body of starter.

 

+ to the big connector with 13mm nut on,then put a wire from that to spade connector that comes from ignition in car.

 

Put the starter in a vice though,or hold tight!!!!!!!!!
