What Sunstrip Should I Get For My 205?

Recommended Posts

Atari Boy

My cage is almost in and the sun visors are one of the casualties.

I am thinking of getting a sunscreen but am a bit picky about what sort to get.

You won’t be surprised to hear that I don’t want anything along the lines of ‘on a mission’ or ‘move over’ in reverse.

My car is cherry red if that is relevant. What I would really like is ‘Peugeot Talbot Sport’ 80’s type one but i can’t seem to find one. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Or do I just do for a simple black one; I just don’t want to look like a tw@t.

If anyone has any picture, please share with the group.

Thanks

Jonny

I don't think the PTS one will be deep enough. The temporary one I had (made of duct tape ) was about 8 inches deep, but then Im sat on the floor. I'd get something at least 6 inches otherwise it will really annoy you.

I think it'd look just the part on a red car. But then again, I would say that! Can also make it as deep as you like.

Will do a mock-up for you, if you send me a pic of your car...

Ah you don't really want to tint it though, its best to just have it completely opaque. Get a black one, Imo that will look best.

Feels great to be tucked behind a big sunstrip, makes you feel cocooned in the car.

I asked the local window-tinter to do this to my frontscreen.

Bild-005.jpg

it is cut to fit the shape of the screen, rather than just straight - which would make the strip thinner in the middle and would look odd.

But it still isnt fitted back to the car.

An other idea I had, was to try making some tinted Lexan or macrolon sunvisors. Will see if I find my time to make them one day

Black put simpley goes with everything and nothing.

I'd echo what Cameron said more is more, the new one I'm putting on (after the MOT) is 12" down the screen :|

You can just buy some plain black vnyll and stick it on yourself.

.. although the strip may be a little bit too "fat" , dunno , but i feel kinda claustrophobic inside :) maybe it's just a case of get used to it

Get a transparent one so you can see traffic lights through it. I used some etch vinyl on mine, but my cars was silver. A grey smoke may work or limo black

A transparent one defeats the whole point of having a sunstrip, it goes from something done purely for practicality to something done for the look.

You only really need a sunstrip if you have a cage, and if your car is serious enough to have a cage then being able to see traffic lights should be way down on your priorities. :)

Heres mine, my local window tinting place did it, its a godsend being able to see through it, especially at traffic lights!

As said duck tape! is the way to go.

you can take it off when not sunny or add more when the sun is low in the sky.

I'm not joking its win win :) .

Well, it isn't really. If you have it on for too long in the sunny weather then when you take it off all the glue will be left behind and it takes ages to clear off.
