Sump Plug Nightmare

what size socket do i need to get the sump plug off i had a look and the plug is pretty rounded on the square part inside so im worried now how ill get it off none of my sockets seem to fit it

19 or 22mm IIRC.

 

That's IF there is a hex on there, I seem to remember some are plain round with only the square hole :unsure:

Go to the motorfactors and get a sump plug key. I think it is 8mm but anyway it is usually marked on the packet to indicate what marque it is suitable for. They are only a few £££.

if its well rounded i once found a good pair of mole grips tapped gently with a hammer got mine out. this was a last resort but it worked.

bought one of these yesterday, pretty sure its an 8mm key. It was £2.50 for a draper expert one in the motor factors <_<

Halfords sell a sump plug key set, only problem though is the handles a bit short and cr*p but you can put a socket over the whole thing.

Mine's a square 8mm hole. I bought a sump plug key for my ratchet set. Couple of quid from Halfords.
