Xu10j2te Conversion- Clutch Kit On Mi-16 Flywheel

Recommended Posts

SOUPED

Hi there,

I considering getting a GTI-6 Clutch kit for my conversion. I've noticed that for Mi16 clutch there are two options available and one of those option is identical to a GTI-6 clutch.

Will the GTI-6 clutch fit on the BE3 box (with Mi16 flywheel), Considering the GTI-6 gearbox has a lift up clutch. I'm asking this beacuse I'm wandering if there was a BE1 box on the Mi16 also. Also rather than fitting a BE3 box I could fit a BE1 box.

Thanks for the advice

use the 1.9 Mi16 clutch, its a push type and compatible with the 205 BE3 clutch release arms, or BE1 if you use the BE1 release bearing.

Hi there,

What I've noticed is there are two clutch kit listed for the Mi16.

I thought one was for a BE1 Mi16 type box (same as GTI-6, as same part numbers) and another for the BE3 type box.

So if I use a BE1 type box I should go for a GTI-6 clutch kit.

or

If I use a BE3 type box I should use the other Mi16 Clutch kit as it has a different part number to the GTI-6 clutch kit.

Thanks

no, forget the gti6 clutch, its a pull type the same as the 2.0 Mi16 and a bit of a faff to get it to work in a 205.

ask for a Citroen BX 16v clutch, its the same as a 1.9 MI16 clutch, doesn't matter whether you have a BE1 or BE3, you just use the appropriate release bearing dependent on which clutch arm there is fitted.

Hi mate,

Thanks for the info.

If I use this clutch with a BE3 I use a release bearing for the push type.

or

If I use this clutch with a BE1 I use a release bearing for the pull type.

Thanks for the info and sorry for asking dodo questions.

All Mi16 gearboxes use a BE3 type clutch arm from memory don't they, and hence the same release bearing, regardless of whether they're BE1 or BE3?

I believe you are correct Anthony (1.9 16v BX GTI's and most early 405 Mi's would certainly use a BE1)

I didn't know if the O.P was using the car's original box or an Mi16 one.

Basically, forget the pull clutches and use whichever release bearing fits your gearbox, with a 1.9 Mi16/BX16v pressure plate and friction plate

Make sure you get a genuine Valeo one otherwise the pattern ones slip for fun when you upp the boost.

Hi guys,

So basically I need to get a BX 1.9 16v clutch.

Does anyone know of a performance clutch I can use that is not too expensive. Also it need to be geared towards road use rather than race.

Or do you reckon a original valeo clutch will suffice.

Also back to the basics.

The Mi16 clutch has to clutches available:-

i) a clutch with same part number as a GTI-6 clutch kit.

ii)another clutch kit which has a different part number to the GTI-6.

Out of these two which one should I go for.

Just that I know these ones are valeo.

Thanks again

Go for the second clutch kit. The first is for the 2.0Mi (XU10 - same as gti6). There are 2 types. As Welshpug said, ask for the Citroen BX 16v clutch as it's the same engine as the 1.9 Mi (should have the same part numbers). It saves the ballache of parts places getting confused over the two types of 405 Mi engine.

Hi there,

Just out of interest are both Mi16 clutch kits 215mm? Or is one kit 215mm and the other 200mm.

Thanks
