Drive Shafts Dont Fit!

Recommended Posts

dimmapalmer

just fitted my 1.6 gearbox to my dimma, it has a gripper lsd in it.

my driveshafts dont feel like they are going in far enough, almost as if they are too long. they are 309 shafts, but fitted fine in my 1.9 box.

any ideas?

cheers

i think the shafts are all the same only diffrence is the length of the 309 ones are longer and if they fitted before maybe its the diff thats the problem big hammer usually works

Are you using 309 bottoms arm aswell?

I had a problem of this cog (dont know name for) kept slipping down and i had to hold it up with a screwdriver from the other side and push the driveshaft in

The cog you mean is the sun gears, its part of the diff assembly,it is possible for this to happen, when the shaft is taken out the sun gear can drop down, not allowing the driveshaft to go back in,using a screwdriver as already said is normally the best was to lift it back up.

If youre using gripper diff then the sun gears should not drop down unless something is broken in the diff!

Maybe the gripper is based on the "later" BE box diff's and you need a different inner CV joint on the left side axle.
