Breather / Oil Pressure

Recommended Posts

the breather on the top of my engine (top of the rocker to the afm) is split on my track car and its chucking quite abit of oil out of it, quite alot actually

what would cause this? theres no smoke from the exhaust and the engine seems to run ok, unfortunatly ive not got my gauges wired up yet so i dont know what the oil pressure is doing but it came out of a road car and from what i remember it was ok?

also just a quickie what size are the copper washers on the fuel filter or were can i get them from :(

Blocked oil Breather pipes can cause the crankcase pressure to rise and pressurise the oil forceing it out. Hve you got all the standard oil breather fitted or are some blanked of maybe. The only other cause is worn rings i see, with loads of blow by making the oil in crankcase to pressurise and come out but if it drives good and doesnt smoke i cant see it, but maybe its worth checking cylinder pressures with a tester.

I got new copper washers from GSF, or id imagine most motor factors would have them

Ive just had another thought, maybe the blockage is in the oil filler neck, the wire mesh bit, theres one you can see in the cap bit, and the other one is under the bit you can pull out, its the plastic section your pour oil through, these can bung up with mayo and rust, i used a stainless kitchen cleaning thing in mine.

Errrr... Shouldn't the rocker breather be going to the smaller breather at the bottom of the block? The two from the AFM / TB pipe go to the SAD and filler tower?

Hi,

did you get anywhere with this? I have a similar problem, that I started a thread for before I found this one.

I had no mesh in my filler cap.
