If you need a hand with anything at all, I'm free most of the weekend Cam. Been meaning to pop round and say hello anyways!

Thanks for the offer. I'm doing some seat mounts for Garry on Saturday so I won't be doing much on my car then, but if you fancy coming over anyway that's fine with me, otherwise Sunday or Monday. :D

So, true to my word the car is back on its wheels. Hooray! :D

First, the eccentric top mounts I bought off Bennet. I think they're Compbrake ones, they aren't much of a genius design but they'll do for now. I'll probably be fitting them for maximum castor but will see how it goes.

Then fitted all the rest of the suspension and the driveshafts.

And look! Tyres on tarmac. :D

The ride height is a bit higher due to the stiffer springs (350lb!) but I'll hopefully have enough thread on the shocks to get it right.

Before I get ahead of myself though, this is only temporary. Everything is just finger tight so I can wheel the car out of the garage this weekend, the shocks will need to come out again when I have my spring top hats machined. But its a good sign that I'm nearing the finish.

Will be booking a mapping session tomorrow, then I'll have my deadline. :)

Which Garry is that then? Pm me your number & address and i'll get in contact tomorrow.

Look the same as the Gaz top mounts i've got. Think i'll purchase some of Stew Baker's when he releases them though, for more accurate setup.

What torsion bars have you got?

Garry off here, that's his username.

They may well be Gaz ones, but I think they are the same as Compbrake ones anyway. Are Stew Baker's ones the ones where you can actually adjust camber and castor independently?

Got 24mm torsion bars on order from the group buy. :D

yup, look a great design that only needs the outer mounting plate swapping for different shells.

They do look nice! Not a huge range of adjustment but I guess the hole in the strut top is only so big.

These work really well, and are a much better design than the other type. I have them on my 205 and wouldn't go back.

Been putting the head back together tonight but due to being in a hurry made a complete balls-up. I managed to get valve to valve contact when I gave the cams a test spin, when the cams jumped down the ramp they touched. I quickly looked round the other side and low and behold, 2 very slightly bent valves! :D

Not good mate, the inlets are stupidly weak. I'd have thought the exhaust will be ok though.

Having trouble setting the cam timing then?

It was the exhausts that I managed to bend! I think the inlets are ok but I'm going to get 2 just in case.

Its the first balls up I've made with cam timing, and just happened because I was in a rush to get it together so I could run to Screwfix before it closed. DOH! :D

It got out the garage!

I've been saving this one for a rainy day.. removing the rear window from the tailgate!

I tried to remove it a little while ago by cutting the sealant, then got a windscreen removal tool from eGay. Neither of them worked to I thought I'd drop increasingly heavy objects on it until it broke. ;)

It survived a screwdriver pointy end first, then I coudn't find anything in between so went straight to the club hammer!

:) was there a need to remove it? could have just taken the seal off and masked it

did you find out what the Lift at TDC and stuff were? I sent them an email asking about PH2's and got a reply in 2 hours, set about with a Dial gauge on a standard cam in a spare engine and I've got that figured out ;)

Yeah it needed to go to make way for some plastic. :)

Its amazing how much lighter the tailgate is without it though, almost don't need a GRP one.

Oh, I missed out an important detail! Mapping session is booked for 6th July. We have a deadline.

When i had my Civic picked up by a scrappy, he smashed the windows with a big drill bit. Think it was probably a wood drill bit as it looked sharp and pointy. Seemed to make light work of the side windows and rear screen!
