Re-oilling Adjustable Rear Dampers

I have a pair of rear Spax adjustable Krypton dampers.

 

 

I'm in the processing of refilling them with oil but am lost to what position they should have to be in to be filled! Eg- closed, midway or open?

 

Any help is appreiceated also will motor bike fork oil be ok to re-fill it with (i hope so i just bought some)
