Help! Which Connector?

Hi all. I've discovered this pretty obvious wiring problem with my 1.6 GTi (1988) and, rather than try and bodge it, I'd like to do a proper job. The problem is that the earth wire has come away from the connector that goes from the dizzy to the ignition amp. Picture shows the connector I'm talking about.

I'm guessing getting the connector spade out of the body ain't going to happen so wanted to buy a new connector. I've looked on ServiceBox and found one that looks right; Part code 6542 25. Can some one who's more competent than I confirm the code and also tell me if the spades would be included or, if not, what the code is for the spades?

I would be very grateful for any help!

Have a look through this topic I did, and you'll see that popping the terminals out of the plug is a piece of piss.

Hi, and thanks for that! I'm a total tool (who can never seem to get the forum search to work). Anyway, after sorting out some other previously bodged wiring, I took the risk and tried firing it up anyway. For the first time in 3 years she ran (briefly but I'll start another post for that).

 

The connector that I was looking to fix has a ground that actually doesn't connect to anything at all.... I love french wiring! Random.

I'm glad you've got it sorted. I just realised the topic I linked to isn't actually as much use as this other one I did - it's a bit long but towards the end there is a lot more info about replacing terminals and plugs etc, where to buy them from, and Pug part numbers. Just linking it here for anyone else who may be struggling with similar problems
