Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

i have just bought a stadard 1.6 where number 4 cylinder conrod has come through the block.

Any thing that any one else has heard of, what might have caused this?

Also does any one have an engine for sale?

I've seen that on a few occasions, as to what actually causes it its hard to say due to the amount of damage that is caused when they go pop.

I have a spare 1.6 engine and I'll be in Windsor next weekend.

Yes, well straight away i checked the oil and it was bang on the top marker.

Obviously it was a bit late to check the coolant :)

There is shrapnel EVERYWHERE!

Well if you know what you are doing and where your tools are and got the right tools 2 hours would be easy. not much holding a 205 engine in realy.

2 Hours isnt that quick, im no mechanic, but with an engine crane and a couple of basic tools i had a 1.6 engine out in just over an hour and 15.

Once you have undo all the plumbing and electrics, its pretty straight forward from then on.

I dont know wether that was supposed to be sarchastic, but it isnt that difficult if you think about it, loosen all pipes, wiring exhaust, clutch and throttle cable and undo 3 mounts.

oh noes!

The interwebs are failing.

Engines take as long as they take. you might be unlucky and find your drivshaft isnt going to play ball, and wont come out *cough* like mine. then it took an extra 30 misn to try get it out without damaging. all because of DIRT!

also, the definition of "engine out" here is a little bit in a grey area,
