Alternator Belt Tensioner

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have searched far and wide for an answer for this but could not find anything.

Basically the bottom of the tensioner (shown in figure 1.1) is missing its bolt, resulting in the tensioner doing jacksh*t.

I assume this bolts to the "thing" in the picture in figure 1.2. In order to compliment this professional posts with "things" and figure numbers I have overlaid a scientifically accurate diagram of how I expect the bolt to go through.

The top tensioner is also looking fairly bent (as shown in figure 1.3). Do you think it is worth getting a replacement for this magical arm of tension, and if so is it something I could pick up at a motorfactors, or would I have to get it from somewhere more specific. Also how much would I be looking at?

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing your expert opinions on this matter of great urgency (more urgent then the current economic climate I might add).

Mike

Yeah I'm pretty much 5 mins from Stansted airport. Tomorrow I'm going to try bodge the bottom bolt from bits in the garage and then see if the top still works, you can still screw it in and out so I'm confident it will be good enough.

However if it doesn't work then how much, where are you, and when can I pick it up? :)
