A Bit Fell Out Of The Oil Filter Housing...

Recommended Posts

As per title really....Changing the oil and filter... filter was a bugger to get off but got it eventually.

Its a 1.9 with power steering and the remote filter unit over by the gearbox.

Little piece came out, bit less than an inch or so long, with a spring behind it, maybe some sort of valve? Any ideas what its does and can it live without it??

I could do with changing the housing there anyway as the water pipes have been disconnected from it...presumably due to a water leak.

it sounds like the pressure valve thats normally in the filter itself has fallen out. there will be a new one in the new filter.

It definitely came out of a hole in the plate on the filter housing, so I can't see it being part of the filter...

I had to put the new filter on and refill as I needed the car running... didn't think to take a photo of the problem before I put it back on.
