Fuel Hose - Split At Banjo

Recommended Posts

Masekwm

Finally after 7 months changed my fuel filter this morning.

I noticed whilst I checked for leaks afterwards (there was none) that the fuel hose was split/perished along the end nearest the lower banjo.

GSF have a number of different hoses, can I buy it off the shelf and what size is needed?

Does the pipe from the bottom of the fuel filter just go to the bulkhead?

Thanks

Keith

Yes, along the bulkhead and I'm pretty sure its 6mm. its a very tight fit, but thats what you want.

Take note that the lower union where the hose joins the metal pipe on the bulkhead is a complete arse to undo with the engine in. Best method is from above, put a pair of spanners on the 2 halfs of the union, about an inch apart, and then squeeze them together with one hand. Also note that it is the bottom part of the union on the metal pipe that turns to undo, not the upper part that the hose joins to.

If you are junking the hose anyway, you might find it easier to do what I did - cut the hose off near the union and then slide ring spanners over the union. I found with open ended spanners that I kept slipping due to the limited space and rounding off the union.

Thanks guys

From looking at the net, I think it's going to be easier and probably as cheap just to go to Peugeot to buy a made up pipe. I'll call the factors tomorrow to check.

Thanks for the tip GLPoo. Looks like I'll be in a Megane on Friday

I bloody hate ordering parts from Peugeot, do they really order so many parts which don't get collected that they require cash up front?

And the general attitude at my local dealer is crap, "do you have this part in stock?" "No." Silence "Could you order it?" "yeah, cash up front" dead line.

Thanks for the tip Glpoo, what a pig of a job to do.

On checking the pipe it wasn't as bad as I expected but better safe than sorry :(

Ive just checked my car and my pipe is split the same, rung central (CAS) and they only sell lengths of pipe and Peugeot no longer have this part!!!!

Does anyone know where I can get a new one from or what else I can do?
