1.1 106 Starting Problem

This is my mums car a 1997 1.1 106, At new year it just cut out whilst driving and would not restart again(away from home) she called breakdown the chat said no fuel getting to carb so off they went to a local garage they spent hours checking it over and could not find fault, Then it just started so she came home asap. Booked it in at a local garage they removed ecu and relays underneath and cleaned them up refitted, test drove and reported no problems. Few days passed car would not start again but could not hear electric fuel pump on. Left it and came back to it and started ? just the other day it would not start at all. All dash lights on but nothing, We towed to garage then they took it from there to an auto elec man, he apparantly found fault where wiring loom gos into car, he replaced some wiring so im told and car started, just the next day car would not start again ? she has not paid £250 + bill yet. any ideas ??

Sounds like one of the earth straps has come loose.
