So, I have bought a xsara VTS with the intention of dropping the engine into my 205 (easier said than done :) ).

I have PAS as standard on my 205 and want to retain it. Searching doesn't bring up much about this though...

I know I will have to get the "non aircon" set up for the aux belt, tensioner, pulley etc, but what about the pump and hoses? Do the 205 hoses just connect to the VTS pump or what?! Anyone done this?

Im sure the hoses would fit, if not then it can't be that hard to get an adapter to make them fit. All it should need is a connector for 2 different sizes of pipe if they are different.

Use the VTS rack and pipework.

Rack is only 2.4 turns lock to lock.

Platty - is the difference noticable then? I hadn't considered using the vts rack, especially as I only fitted a new rack (s/h) last summer. Does it fit straight on using my (new) existing steering arms and TREs?

You need a couple of minutes with a grinder to allow the lower column joint to mate with the rack. put them side by side and all will become clear. I'll take some pics when I can and update my build thread to show what I mean.

you can use the pump and hoses from the VTS no probs just mate it up the 205 rack.

The best option is to mount the xsara PAS reservoir in the drivers inner wing. I had to rotate the PAS outlet on the pump slightly using some water pump pliers but its a 2 min job

Cheers Matt. Well, I picked the VTS up today and after a rather long drive home, have it sat on my drive. Engine appears okay, although the manifold is blowing badly. I guess I should start a project thread soon enough (and a xsara bits for sale thread  )
