Newbie 1.6 Rally Tuned Engine Oil Question

Recommended Posts

swervygerdy

Afternoon all.

My first post and it's a question, apologies!

I recently bought a 205 stage rally car, my first 205, my 5th pug. Now, my first event is next saturday and I want to spend the coming week carrying out some prep work, simple stuff oil and filter change and a good poke around underneath.

The guy who sold the car recommended mineral oil - but I've read contradicting posts suggesting semi or even fully synthetic oil.

The spec of the engine - so Im lead to believe is as follows

'Longmans full spec 1600cc 8-valve, Lightened and balanced crankshaft, Lightened and balanced flywheel, Vernier pulley, Ported and polished head, stainless steel big valves, Omega forged pistons with Dellorto twin 45 carbs, Group A distributor, Domed ITG air filter, Facet red top fuel pump, Filter King fuel pressure regulator, Braided fuel pipe, Samco hose kit, Four branch heat wrapped manifold, Peugeot sport exhaust system, Uprated Gti-6 oil pump, Peugeot sport sump baffle, Alloy oil catch tank, 19 row oil cooler, Group N top engine mounts and solid lower mount.'

Anyone any suggesions on what grade of oil to go for and how ofen to change it. In fact any info at all on the engine would be most appreciated.

I've no doubt this will be the first of many posts, Im just trying to glean as much info as possible.

Cheers

Gerard

Tried phoning a few times, but no answer.

Spend most of the day crawling about underneath it checking things over, maybe I'll leave the oil/filter untill next week, hopefully get through then.

I'd try in the week, not really a garage that would open weekends id say.
