I have pressure washed plenty of engines and they are usually fine. If you are worryed then give the distributor a good covering with wd-40. Try using Traffic flim remover spayed on 5 mins before washing it is good stuff and will remove alsorts of crap. Try not to wash the distributor and coil to much and dont get any in your inlet. Also I have known of alarms being ruined so if you have an alarm under there then rap it in a plastic bag.

regards

Neil

The only problem i had when i did it was it missed like crazy afterwards, and after a lot of investigation it was water sitting around the plugs in the head  dried it out and it was fine

ye, you should be fine, just be careful not to direct it too close at anything (gaskets, altenator, wiring looms, lights & alarm). stupidly high pressures at close range can damage rads.

You may have to take the ht leads off the plugs and dry (blow with air line if you have one and then a quick spray with wd40), you may also need to take the distributer cap off & dry. you'll know by whether it wants to start and then by how many cylinders it runs on.

as stated by Neil, some degreaser sprayed on a few minutes before you start works wonders.

best way to dry is blow dry ........... as in lash it down the road after all is done.

I forsee a "won't start/misfire" thread coming soon

Not worth the almost inevitable hassle IMO.

Agreed I would avoid getting it wet if I was you. Could end up being more hassle than its worth.

I've jet washed engines plenty, just avoid electrics and do it with the engine running so its hot and evaporates the water off.

I also have pressure washed quite a few engines. As previously mentioned, have the engine running and try not to concentrate on the ignition system too much. TFR left on for a few minutes brings it up a treat. Good luck!

Sorry to disappoint you but all went fine! :)

Started straight away but was missing but after gettin the water from around the plugs with a bike pump(no air line) it ran well. Let it tick over to dry while i washed the outside, then let it cool off and sprayed it with some 303 aerospace protect. Job done!

A slight warning tho-if your gonna do it using megs degreaser be careful of the paint work on the wings-caused a bit of fading, but using a cuttin polish then wax its back to normal.

Not really to be honest, was expectin better but the engine was dirty,i was hopin to have a sparkling engine but i think you need to take the engine out and strip it down to get that new look! see what you think i didnt take pics of before so you'll have to use your imagination of what it was like. Its 100% better than it was tho

Cant get the pics up yet-get my wife to show me how to do it
