Idle Idle Idle

Recommended Posts

RINRIN

Hi,

I am asking this only to relief my self. I made the checks on AFM and TPS and my hoses are OK, but my idle makes 50 rpm oscilating. My idle is set to 950 rpm. Do you have the same?

Also the main issue is when the loads are on. Idle drops and come again. 100 rpm oscilating I set the CO to 1.5. Do you have the same?

I dont think so B)

Same here. Had a few niggles due to running lean and rich. Mot'ed car last July, was running slightly lean. Sorted fueling. Then replaced hoses sucking air in, so running rich. Was a bugger to drive and was getting 23 mpg with gentle town driving. Had the fueling tweaked early this year and found it to be running 7.8 CO emmissions lol. Was tweaked to about 1.78 I think and runs better but still hates the cold. Got 125 miles to 26 litres last week after fitting a thermostat.

Probably needs doing again to be fair, but will monitor it. Combination of town driving, cold weather, and short 5 mile journeys aren't helping. But as per my other thread when I achieved 42 mpg on a 370 mile round trip (without a thermostat) decent mpg is achieveable lol.

bout rite same here.... wish mine would tick over nicley tho i set the tick over to run about 950 when cold but when it warms up its ticking over at 1700 rpm which is annoyning but if i lower it when its warm it gets all erractick and cuts out just cant win  its also a pain to start all the time needs lots of cranks to get goin hot or cold so tempted to run a HDI or D Turbo lump just so dont dont have to worry with having 3 kids :)

Strip down the air intake system and oil pipes, check for leaks/cracks/perished pipes, clean up all the unions with a dry cotton cloth and refit it all.

Remove and clean out the SAD with WD40 or carb cleaner.

Then check that all the bolt holes on the inlet manifold are filled.

Clean up the adjustment screw on the TB and reset it.

Check that the electrical connections on the AFM and TPS are clean and well fitting.

Check that the TPS clicks when the throttle butterfly is shut, if not adjust the accelerator cable.

Clean the AFM and TB butterflys.

Change plugs and HT leads if they are old.

It may be worth taking the lid off the AFM, blowing out the carbon dust and checking that the carbon plate hasn't worn through, then reseal with electrical silicoln sealant (car sealant can corrode the wiring when setting)

Get your fueling checked if you don't get around 35mpg at a steady 70mph, and a minimum of 25mpg urban; if your fueling is really bad replace the ECU temperature sensor.
