Airflow Meter Diffrences Between 1.6/1.9

Recommended Posts

Ok on my 205 8v 1.9 i have had for the last 6 months or so had a bad stutter in 1st and 2nd when going at a constant speed, or changing gear. I rear the boards and tried everythin i could see mentioned. Anyway later on today i decided to stick a known good 1.6 airflow meter on the car and take it for a quick run...

The problem had gone, smooth running, now the problem is i do not have a decent 1.9 airflow meter so therefore was wondeering on the diffrence between the 2.

I have noticed if you flick my broken 1,9 airflow meter you here like a loose spring where as the 1.6 working one makes no noise.

The 1.6 is setup differently, therefore sending a different signal to the ECU at each given level of opening.

How different I can't say, but my last 1.9 engined 205 Gti was running a 1.6 ECU and AFM without any noticeable suffering in performance. Is likely that whoever put those bits on mine had a fiddle with the fuelling on the AFM.
