Restraining The Battery

Recommended Posts

mainline

I'm just about to book my car in for its MOT, then I remembered that I sheared the mounting bolt holding the battery clamp in place. Is it necessary to have it secured for the MOT? I just read on the thread below that it is not.

So will I be okay with my battery in position and working but able to move about 10 cm forward?

Could I tie wrap the carry handle to the frame at the back? Would that be enough?

Can easily sort the problem round at my mate's garage but I have no electricity in mine......

Am paranoid that it will fail on something silly, sorry. :P

Insecure battery is an advisory item, not a fail. Wants sortig, though. isn't there an adjascent hole in the battery tray that you can use a long bolt , the clamp and va nut on the underside? I believe there is

Thanks for the help. There is another hole, but its not quite in line, and therefore under me battery. I will get it sorted as soon as I can get to my mates and use some power tools to drill whats left of the thread out. :o

Am pleased its only an advisory.

Just need to get my insurance sorted now. Had a bit of a mare, they won't insure my gf on the policy from the 1.1 trio. So they have cancelled it and i'm waiting for my proof of no claims to come through. Have found somewhere else that will insure us both (she is on provisional licence) for £30 per month. So once that's sorted then i'm laughing!
