Running Xu9j4 D6c With A 161-box?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I got a XU9J4 D6C-engine for my 205, but I live in Sweden and here we are required to have a catalysator fited on the car if it's newer than -88. The XU9J4Z are therefore mainly used here.

But the question is, can I use a Motronic 0 261 200 161-box from a catalysed engine and connect a lambda-sensor and a knock-sensor to it and pass the Swedish MOT with their exhaust limits like with a XU9J4Z-engine?

Yes. I've done it several times.

Okey.. Do you know if it will be 148bhp or 160bhp?

the engine will still have higher compression ratio and therefore slightly more power.

different map in the ECU though and you'll have a catalysator installed too...?

i'm guessing half way from 147 to 160 bhp :P.

Yes, I will have a catalysator installed at least at the MOT-test and if it's not such a big difference in power between removing it and switch to a non-cat box I will stick to the 161-box and catalysator.

Thanks for your help :D

The D6C will run much better on the later ECU, with or without the cat. I get them up to 180-185hp (with cat) with the addition of my inlet cam and my special chip.
