1.9 8v Exhaust Manifold

Recommended Posts

My stock exhaust manifold cracked and I welded it, bit I doubt it will hold. I've been looking for a new manifold and I found this one:

My engine runs on bike carbs, 11.1:1 CR and a Kent PT23 304 duration. Would this flow better than the stock one? Should I buy this one or look for a standard one?

Cheers,

Andrei

Looks a bit manky but it should do the job pretty well.

Is this a genuine Peugeot item or an aftermarket one? Will i get an increase or a decrease in power?

Its an aftermarket manfiold.

Peugeot have never made a four branch exhaust manifold like that for any of their production models afaik, it would be far to costly to produce.

Hard to say about the pwoer, you should at least keep the same power that you had with the original cast manifold but I@d expect a slight increase.

I guess I'll take ca chance with this one then.

Thanks for the advice gents. Wouldn't want the original manifold to crack on the Eurotrip.

Hi Andrei,

I had the same dilema. I thought about a 4 branch but people said they would break eventually and for all that money they just weren't worth it. I was thinking of just bracing one to strengthen it but it was not priority and now got a standard cast manifold which runs into a split downpipe and then into an almost straight through pipe.

I have painted the exhaust with VHT exhaust paint and wrapped the downpipe and manifold in heatwrap which was then sealed for the obvious reasons but also to extend its life. I was told this set-up would be fine for what I'm running and should be good for upto about 160bhp.

So would the std system.

Those manifolds crack as well, I've got one thats been rewelded due to cracking where the pipes join & are harder to weld because the access is worse between the pipes.

Like Baz said, that standard system, exhaust & manifold are good for upto (& over) 160bhp.

I'm getting my Megajolt and vernier pulley next week and will have the carbs properly cleaned and set up and I'm hoping to reach 170 Bhp.

I found a std exhaust manifold, but I want to build the exhaust system myself. I want it to be quiet enough to drive through Switzerland on the Eurotrip, but not too restrictive. I'm thinking of using either just a backbox or just a middle box.

What setup do you guys recommend and what diameter pipe?
