Are The Wiper Arms Identical?

Recommended Posts

humanz

I removed my wiper arms, thinking I would've been able to put them back on the same day, so I didn't mark them. I placed them on the car, on their correct sides. However, had to run off and someone moved them. Now I'm not sure which arm is for which side? Are they identical, so they can fit on either side? Or is each arm specific to a particular side?

They seem identical, but I know looks can be deceiving....

Both are the same, doesn't matter which side they go on.

I've got a problem then. I've fitted on the wiper arms, and I've fitted them so that the area they sweep over is correct. However, the reset position seeems to be smack in the middle of the windshield. That's where they return to once switched off. When you switch them on, they sweep downwards first, and then back up. As I said, when you turn off, they return to the middle of the windshield.

Any ideas? The motor is hardly used and was bought new, albeit a few years ago now. Could it really have gone?

Cheers.

you need to move the arm on the motor till they park in the right place, leave the wiper arms where they are.

Could you give me more info? Let the wipers return to their cancel position mid-screen, then tug the actual arms on the motor until they are at the bottom of the screen?

basically yes, loosen the nut that holds the arm on the motor, release the arm from the splines, move the arms down to the park position, tighten nut and check sweep and park. job done :)

Thanks. Worked. Now I just need a 10mm spanner or a small ratchet to tighten the nut up.

Cheers.
