2.1 Mi16 (2088cc) Cam Spec?

Recommended Posts

Hopefuly someone may be able to answer this.

My car is a 2.1 using a long stroke crank and 86mm pistons and has some sort of fast road cam at the minute the car is at a tuners having the cam timing set up unfortunatly i do not have cam spec sheet.

So basicaly does anyone know what cam you can run with a 2.1 without the valves hitting the pistons?

There for i would be able to get a cam specification sheet?

I do know they are regrinds but thats about it.

I know its a long shot but thought i may give it a try!

Thanks!

There isnt a specific spec as such you can adhere to and in my experience all engine builds are different. Your best bet is to measure how much clearance's you have between valve's and piston at TDC then choose your cams based on this. Most cams will be advertsied with duration, maximum lift and lift at TDC. You should be able to work out from there. You may also want to first work out your compression ratio and decide what kind of management your using as these will also have a large bearing on what will work. If in doubt speek to petert off here as he grinds cams

You'll need to be careful. I'd estimate you'd have only approx. 0.070-0.080" lift at TDC available. You really should measure it accurately. For example, my Stage I regrind runs at 0.065", whilst the Stage II runs at 0.105". In which case the later would be hitting pistons.
