Springs

I have some SBC (-25mm) springs to go on. But, which way up do they fit? The coils get tighter at one end, but should this be at the top or bottom of the strut?

On any coil compression spring the tighter coils usually go against the static side.

Erm, so the "top" then?

Cheers! Makes sense I suppose - the wider sections get compressed first before getting to the tighter wound part? Or have I just completely made that up?!

i think as long as they are the same it dosent mater.

i put the tighter coils at the botom, just to lower the center of gravity a tiny bit. not that it will do anything at all but its the only possible advantage i could think of. the spring will compress the same no mater what direction it is, the easyest bit will allways compress 1st

yeah the windings of the spring will determine the compression/rebound profile of it (as i understand it) but the spring will behave the same regradless of which way up it is as the same resultant force will be applied to it regardless of which way up it is

What shocks are you using with the sbc springs. Mine give a very harsh ride!

SBC shocks too. It's their "phase 1" kit. I am hoping they are well matched...

On my SBC kit (fitted by SBC!) the coils are tighter at the top - but as M@tt says, it can't make a jot of difference.

You will love the set up BTW, it's not harsh at all.
